Kapok is a natural fiber that grows wild in the tropical rainforests.
It is produced sustainably and processed according to ecological standards.
The kapok fiber is insulating, temperature regulating and transports moisture away from the body - in the same way as wool.
These are really good properties in a sleeping environment. Especially for a small baby who may have difficulty regulating body temperature.
Kapok is recommended for allergy sufferers, as the fiber contains a natural antibacterial bitter substance that house dust mites cannot live in.

Maintenance of your kapok mattress
It is a good idea to give your kapok mattress a little air from time to time.
You do this by placing it on its side once in a while.
If you have a bed with a slab base without air flow, you must pay particular attention to airing your mattress.
Because the slab base will not be able to transport moisture and heat away from the mattress and in the worst case this can result in fungal spores at the bottom of your mattress.
The mattress is hand-stuffed with loose natural fiber, and therefore the mattress must be maintained once in a while as needed, where you put the mattress on its edge and massage/press the fiber from the edge towards the middle, where the mattress is most stressed during use. Otherwise, the mattress may form a hole where the kapok fiber is pressed the most.
